The Big Field by Mike Lupica
Reviewed by Rebekah “The Big Field” is a book I read recently for A.R. It was called “The Big Field” by Mike Lupica. It was a very good book that kept me guessing until the very end. It had a lot of twists in the story that kept me reading until late into the night.
“The Big Field” is about a boy named Hutch whose life revolves around playing shortstop. Not only is his favorite player Derek Jeter, but his dad was also a local legend who had turned pro, but because of an injury is now retired. But because of a hot-shot named Darryl “D-will” Williams who is the best shortstop prospect since A-Rod has joined the team Hutch has been moved to second base. Hutch is ok with hiding in Darryl’s shadow for now but when his two favorite shortstops betray him and the championship title is on the line how far will Hutch be willing to bend to be a good teammate?
You won’t want to miss out on this book full of betrayal, secrets, and forgiveness. It is a book that will keep you reading deep into the night and keep you guessing until the very end.
